Chinese Astrology and Feng Shui

Over the past 5000 years, we have benefited from the wisdom and ingenuity of Chinese culture. Although human beings are unique, complex individuals, this systematic theory is a useful starting point for the purpose of self-knowledge and self-improvement. With this unique approach, you can learn more about how to maximize your potential by taking inspiration from nature.

I became interested in Feng Shui when my health deteriorated after moving house. After consulting a Chinese medic, I was advised to consult a Feng Shui practitioner - he dowsed my home and traced two toxic energy zones that intersected in my bedroom. Being a practical DIY person, I arranged to attend a workshop and study course. After I graduated I started to apply this knowledge to my own situation and later became a full-time consultant.

Most people think that Feng Shui is about arranging furniture and placing good luck ornaments and symbols in the right location, but the most important thing is the geology and geography of the locations where you work rest and play.

Over-all, Feng Shui teaches you how to maximize your comfort and security, at home, at work, and in any social situation. You can learn more about Feng Shui and astrology by following the web-links at the bottom of this page.

There are two types of Chinese Astrology. One based on the Lunar calendar zodiac with twelve animal signs, similar to Western astrology. Another called Flying Star, based on the interaction of the five elements of earth, wood, fire, metal and water. The Flying Star 5 Elements astrology is incorporated into the practice of Feng Shui, pronounced Fung Schway, sometimes called 'acupuncture for houses'.

In this brief excerpt, you will learn some of the qualities of the five elements and their relationships which are depicted in the diagram. I will also give a brief introduction to the Lunar calendar animal zodiac. I will also show how this can be applied to your home to improve your health and prosperity.

The diagram illustrates the productive and control cycles of the five elements, wood feeds fire and water controls it. However abstract it may seem, once the principles are understood, you will see the world in a new light and become empowered to make changes for the better.
The Chinese believe that the interactions of the five elements - earth, wood, fire, metal and water - can be combined in different quantities to create all the permutations that are found in the forces of nature.

A significant portion of Feng Shui practice is based on interpreting how these elements interact in the physical environment to create good or bad fortune.
Although human beings are unique, complex individuals, this theory is a useful starting point for the purpose of self-improvement – also for determining the potential of children.

Fire : Fire is red, an auspicious color. It represents Summer.Water : Water is black or blue, a solemn colour. It represents Winter.Wood : Wood is green, a prosperous colour. It represents Spring.Metal : Metal is white, silver or golden, an intense colour. It represents Autumn/fall.Earth : Earth is yellow or brown, a colour of attainment. It represents stability.

Feng shui and Flying Star 5 elements astrology mix at many points. For example, they become mixed through calculations based on personal Bagua numbers derived from your birth date. Feng Shui and astrology provide valuable information about the different aspects of our lives. Whatever aspect (job, career, relationships, children, finances) you need to improve, Feng Shui and Flying Star 5 elements astrology can help you to improve one or all of them.

The five elements can also be viewed as furniture and fittings,You can also decorate your rooms using element colors and pictures to support the nine aspirations!
Fire – red – stars – triangles - heating – lighting – TVs etc.

Earth – brown – square solid furniture – bricks and mortar - checkered

Metal – gold/ silver – cutlery – fridges – clocks – mirrors etc.

Water – blue – wavy – aquariums – fountains – wrought iron – blue carpets

Wood – green – oblong – grandfather clocks – plants & trees - tables

The Chinese animal horoscope is based on some of the same ancient Chinese calculations that Feng Shui follows, such as the ones provided by the Bagua numbers and the Luo Shu compass. The animal horoscope is also based on the five elements, and cultivating balance between them is an important aspect of Chinese astrology.

I was born in the year of the tiger, however in the flying star astrology I am a number five Earth. Tigers like to be at the center of attention and Earth five is in the center of the Bagua. After studying Feng Shui, I learned a lot about myself and how I interact with people and with my environment. It has made a huge difference in my life for the better.

Eisenhower, Marilyn Monroe, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Jodie Foster, Mary Kate Olson, Ashley Olson, Joaquin Phoenix, Whoopi Goldberg, Garth Brooks, Robert Pattinson, Penelope Cruz, Mischa Barton, Judy Blume, Emily Bronte, Emily Dickinson, Isadora Duncan, Beatrix Potter.

Knowing your personal Bagua number can provide very accurate and valuable information to help you improve your good fortune. I can calculate your Bagua number and /or animal type from your birth date. See foot of page for more details.

Feng shui shows you how to divide your home into nine parts which are represented by the five elements and their associated functions. The 9 functions of the Bagua are shown in the diagram below.
